We have in common that I'm long a Smiths fan, even most of their work was done before the year I was born (1987). I think Morrissey's is a genius of all time, very few have such an hypnotic charisma as him. Their lyrics, as you said, really cuts deep. Listening to some of them again, but now in Ukraine and in these days, is an unique experience I'm still to find words to express.
I was lucky to be in my mid-teens at the time some of the best indie music ever arrived. Smiths, Cure, New Order, The Sundays…etc. Too many to mention. Morrisey’s poetic museings were strewn with adolescent identity angst, but were much more than that. Some v. tough subjects, but also witty at times. Meat is Murder and the noises from a slaughterhouse… #hardbars

From the "Meat is Murder" album, "Well I Wonder":
"Gasping, but somehow still alive
This is the fierce last stand of all I am
Gasping, dying, but somehow still alive
This is the final stand of all I am
Please, keep me in mind"
